McKean's Kyra McGriff shows off her D.  At the other end of the court,

she scored 10 points in this game.

If you said "twelve", then you woul have correctly guessed the number of points Marissa Jamison (pictured above) had in this win against Charter.

McKean Highlander, Raven Brown.  Don't let Raven's 5' 1" frame fool you.  She had 11 points, including three three-pointers.

The incredible Telisha Turner (#5).  If you've been lucky enough to see her play, you'd understand the "incredible" part.  I caught onto this gifted sophomore last year.  Hey, News Journal!  There really are girls playing basketball in Delaware other than Elena Delle Donne!

To watch her play, you'd think that the ball is a part of her body.

I'll say it loud and clear.  In my pre-season picks, I TOTALLY MISSED MIDDLETOWN!  The Lady Cavs got it goin' on this year and are very much in the hunt to write their ticket to The Bob.  Whoever was responsible for putting them in the Classic this year - and in the most competitive bracket to boot - my hat's off to you.

Above, Heather Hopkins, a smooth shooting guard for Middletown.

As great as M-town was during the tourney, Lexington Christian Academy (from Kentucky) went with a gutsy "no losses" strategy in the Classic.  They would prevail over Middletown in the Grotto Pizza Cup Semi-Finals, 77 - 58.  In this game, Lexington's Courtney Clifton put on a shooting clinic.  Here she is driving the lane for two.

...And here she is from downtown.

Teammate Anna Martin would take home a Tournament MVP Award - and the admiration and respect of everyone who saw her play.

Grotto Cup runner-ups, Ursuline Academy, sent several representatives to accept their trophy.  As you can see, there was a mixture of emotions evident on their faces.

***  The purpose of this page, like the rest of this site, is to promote girls basketball in the State of Delaware.  This is hard to do if individual players cannot be singled out.  However, I will honor all requests by players or parents to remove their/their daughters' names and/or images from this review.  I will also gladly correct any misspelled names, or add names where now I list only a player uniform number.  Just email me. ***
