2008 Girls High School Summer League
Former iPOW winner, Katie Desmond, an incoming freshman for Ursuline, dishes off to a teammate.
At UA, you could probably field a whole team of point guards alone. One of the best is Gab Perrotti.
Sanford's Naiesha Brown lines up her shot.
Senior Allison Kenney goes long-range over UA's Jill Lyons. Kenney has a lot of experience as a post player, but can kill you from the arc as well.
Another terrific Ursuline point guard, Audra Cranston.
Karena Puckham of Delcastle showing off her skills. Check out how toned those arms are.
Fellow Delcastlite, Jaquetta May, looks over her options.
If you are a St. Mark's fan, this is a welcome sight. Jeanne Knowles back on the court again. Knowles had to sit out all of last year due to an injury. She is on anyone's short list of premier Delaware point guards.
Courtney Migliocco came up through the St. E's system, but now she suits up in Caravel's colors. (Well, in summer league, everyone suits up in Brandywine's colors, but you get the point!)
Caravel's Arielle Chard goes pro wrestling on Padua's Colleen Justison with this innovative use of the Sleeper Hold. Justison retains her hold on the ball nevertheless. Chard would receive a warning for her over-aggressiveness.
One more shot of Delcastle's Karena Puckham.
Arianna Talley (in white) of Brandywine fights for a rebound with Julianne Lambert of Padua JV.
The Holtster (Holt Queery, Padua JV) is all intensity as she contests the Brandywine inbound.
Deja Williams, a Brandywine guard, seems tough as nails and has a good head for the game.
Alyssa DiBonaventura is one of a bumper crop of rising freshman for Padua Academy.
Paige Chapman is one of many new faces that hope to lead the Bulldogs in the Post-Michelle Baker Era.
Is it just me, or does Appoquinimink's Tierra Scott have a Tamika Catchings look going on? Scott is poised to put up big numbers for the Jaguars this year.
Lady Jag point guard, Katie Miller, is all smiles as she looks over her passing options.
Caravel Coach, Kristin Caldwell providing one answer to the question, "What I did during summer vacation", beside coaching her Lady Bucs at Summer League. She pitches in the Philadelphia Women's Baseball League (not softball). In August, she will join the USA National Women's Team and play a tournament or two overseas. In 2004, Kristin was ranked the Number 1 female baseball pitcher in the world!
Telisha Turner was nearly unstoppable for Glasgow, scoring 24 points versus Caravel -- 15 in the first half, alone!
Sonny Jones is a real fun player to watch. She's so athletic and quick that the only way to get a decent pic of her was when she was on the line. Otherwise, she was a blur. Sonny loves playing D (at least it looks that way) and will box out anyone to recover a loose ball. She's a real "force" for Charter.
The Lady Auks of Archmere are playing real good ball of late. One reason why is Ashlee Hale, who we see above in game action under the rim, and on the charity stripe.
Senior, Jenna DiNardo, provides veteran leadership out of the 1-guard slot for Archmere. In the background behind Jenna is her biggest fan. You can talk the talk, but you can't beat the Auk!
At first, when I saw this girl, I said, "What's Austin Noonan (UA guard) doing playing for Archmere?" As it turns out, this very impressive player is Allison Hazel. Allison plays with a comfort level that would be welcome on any in-State team.
Katrina Swank plays D for Caravel in their game against Glasgow. Swank is a multi-sport talent who also plays baseball (center field) with her coach, Kristin Caldwell, in the Philadelphia Women's Baseball League.
