This very important win for Caesar Rodney may well go down as one of the top 3 or 4 most pivotal contests of the 2008/2009 high school season.

The tale of the tape.

St. Mark's freshman, Emma Grey does split duty between varsity and JV.

Another swing player for the Spartans is sophomore, Allie Pitti.

We first told you about Kara Gallagher when she was in CYM playing for Corpus Christi.  Today, she is one of several JV/Varsity swing players.  Kara's brand of basketball is hardnosed, in-your-face.  She may not go into a game looking for hard bumps, but she never backs away from such a situation either.

Another shot of Kara.

One half of the Goodge sisters, this being frosh, Kayla.

...And here's older sis, junior Briana.  Briana plays exclusively on the varsity.

A little equal time for the Lady Riders, here's Rachelle Allen looking to create.

A truly unique and special talent, former iPOW winner, Cortney Baynard.  Baynard was responsible for 14 of the Riders' points.

Here's Cortney being defended by St. Mark's Amanda Farrell.  At the other end of the floor, Farrell chipped in 5 points to the Spartan effort.

Another picture along the same lines.  I don't know that many girls in the state are capable of containing Baynard, but Farrell looks to be doing a fair job in these photos.

Jeanne Knowles is one of just three seniors on the Spartan roster.  Injuries barred her from playing most of her junior season, but she seems to be healthy and contributing this year.  She had 7 points in the game.

As Baynard gets air, you can see how the whole Spartan defense reacts.

Allyson Nigro, a senior (#43) tries her best to defend the shot.  Nigro would throw down 9 points of her own.

The growth of Annie Rivituso over the years - both in height and in talent - has been nothing short of phenomenal.  This junior standout has been an important piece of the Spartan lineup for a couple years now and gives them a solid presence in the paint.  Many nights, she leads her team in scoring, just as she did in this game.  She had 11 for the Green & Gold.

A struggle for the ball ensues.  The Riders have this unlucky Spartan outnumbered!

There's nothing like prevailing over a top-ranked team like St. Mark's, especially with the history and reputation of that program.

Seniors Baynard and Shalaya Nieves celebrate the big win.  Nieves had 7 for C.R.
