Additional:
Known primarily as a top flight,
nationally known softball player, Jenny Asbury nevertheless left
quite a mark on local girls' and women's hoops. At William
Penn, she played with the likes of Kelly Wickes, Laura Knorr and
Rhonda Clifton -- a situation that did not require a lot of scoring
from her, personally. So, she was more than happy to help
teammates take it to the hoop, as her nearly 4 assists per game
attest, and to contribute in other facets of the game.
When she got to Wilmington College, a
whole different set of circumstances presented itself. The
team make up was such that another "go-to" scorer was very much
needed. Jenny was asked to develop that aspect of her game,
and boy, did she deliver! By the time she graduated, she was
still known far and wide as a premier softball player. But her
time on the hardwood left little to be desired as evidenced by her
school record 2,036 career points.
From
Wilmington University Athletic Dept.:
A two-sport
All-American in both softball and basketball during her four
years at Wilmington. The 5'1" dynamo accumulated three
All-American honors in softball, and was considered one of
Wilmington's premier softball players. However, the 2036
points she registered as a member of the 'Cats women's
basketball team separate her from any basketball player,
male or female, who ever wore the green and white. In
addition to her impressive achievements in softball and
basketball, Jenny was also selected as an All-American
Scholar-Athlete in 1993 and 1994.
