Impact Player of the Week - Week Ending February 20, 2010
Amanda Farrell
- St. Mark's High School

Height:
5' 7"
Current Class: Senior
Years Varsity: 3
Positions
Played: Point Guard
Other
Interests: Volleyball & Track
Biggest
Basketball Influence: Elena Delle Donne
Probable
College: Kutztown
How’d she iPOW?
Amanda came up with 11 points to lead St. Mark's to a 1 point
win, 37 - 36, over Ursuline Academy in this crucial late season
matchup featuring two Catholic Conference rivals. Four of
her eleven came in the 4th quarter and her last two were
clutch free-throws made with just 22 seconds left in the
game. They allowed St. Mark's to see a little daylight.
For Ursuline, those shots made things all the more difficult in
the closing seconds of the contest. Truly good players
deliver in pressure situations and that's what Farrell did.
Every point that each St. Mark's girl scored was
important in a one-point victory. But this player got
points when she had to, when the team was counting on it.
Game was played February 20, 2010. It was the last regular
season meeting between these two powerhouses.
February 14, 2010
Impact Player of the Week - Week Ending February 13, 2010
Maddy Waegele
- Holy Angels

Height:
5' 8"
Current Class: 8th Grade
Years Varsity: 2
Positions
Played: Forward
Other
Interests: Volleyball & Soccer
Biggest
Basketball Influence: Elena Delle Donne
Probable
High School: Padua or St. Mark's
How’d she iPOW? Maddy
had 12 points (including 4-for-6 at the free-throw line) and
numerous rebounds in the Sherwood Park Shootout Tournament
Varsity Championship Game (game played 02-13-10). Whenever
anything big was going on for Holy Angels, there was Waegele!
DGB.com has seen Maddy have great games before (an away game at
Ursuline earlier this season comes to mind), but this one was
rendered all the more important due to a tournament title
hanging in the balance. Maddy has a great build for
basketball, looking more like a high school junior than an 8th
grader, and we know she'll do well over the next 4 seasons no
matter what high school she happens to attend.
January 25, 2010
Co-Impact Player of the Week - Week Ending January 23, 2010
Audra Cranston
- Ursuline Academy

Height:
5' 3"
Current Class: Junior
Years Varsity: 2
Positions
Played: Point Guard
Other
Interests: Softball & Snowboarding
Biggest
Basketball Influence: Michael Jordan
Probable
College: Uncommitted
How’d she iPOW? From
the DGB.com article covering the Haddonfield vs. Ursuline game
(game played January 23, 2010):
Cranston led all scorers in this game with a cool 21 in what was
perhaps the best game DGB.com has witnessed from
her. Nine of those points came on three-pointers. And she went a Delle Donne-esque
8-for-8 from the free-throw line. Things you won’t find in
the box score are the interceptions she made and the plays she
broke up. Audra was a force.
Audra accounted for 44% of the Ursuline point total! While
it is exceedingly rare for DGB.com to award iPOWs to players on
the losing side, Cranston's effort could not go unnoticed nor
unrewarded.
January 24, 2010
Co-Impact Player of the Week - Week Ending January 23, 2010
Anna Tiberi -
St. Elizabeth High School

Height:
5' 4"
Current Class: Senior
Years Varsity: 4
Team Captain: 1 year
Positions
Played: Point Guard
Other
Interests: Eating, Hanging with Friends, TV
Biggest
Basketball Influence: Diana Taurasi
Probable
College: Uncommitted
How’d she iPOW? Was THE
standout player in the St. E’s / Caravel game (January 22, 2010)
which the Lady Vikings won, 58 – 51. Led all scorers with 15
points, including four three-pointers – one of which was a
half-court shot made from the scorer’s table! Tiberi was also
3-for-4 from the foul line. In addition to her scoring, she seemed
to be everywhere at once in this hotly contested game that saw both
teams lead the game for good stretches. Diving on the floor for the
ball, excellent speed at both ends of the court, awesome court
vision and ability to get the ball to teammates – all of this is
Anna Tiberi.
January 8, 2010
Impact Player of the Week - Week Ending January 9, 2010
Aja Brooks -
Brandywine High School

Height:
5' 7"
Current Class: Junior
Years Varsity: 3
Positions
Played: The 3
Other
Interests: Shopping, Sneakers, Shopping for sneakers
Biggest
Basketball Influence: Her Dad & LeBron James
Probable
College: South Carolina
How’d she iPOW? Led all
scorers with 25 points in a close game with William Penn. Most
of her points were needed as the Bulldogs pulled out a 63 - 57
victory. Brooks scored consistently all game long.
Started things off with a three-pointer, went 4 for 6 from the line,
and added another 9 field goals. Plays "tall" for just 5' 7".
Gave her father most of the credit for the player she is, saying,
"He started teaching me basketball when I was three and he's always
been there for me." Only a junior, Blue Hen Conference
opponents will have another year and a half to figure out how to
contain her.
December 29, 2009
Impact Player of the Week - Week Ending January 2, 2010
Ellee Rollins
- Caravel Academy

Height:
5' 7"
Current Class: Senior
Years Varsity: 4
Positions
Played: Point Guard / Shooting Guard
Other
Interests: Field Hockey, Soccer, Class President (4 years),
Church Activities
Biggest
Basketball Influence: Her brother, Will
Probable
College: Salisbury University
How’d she iPOW? "Ellee
willed us to win against Padua. Even in the 3rd quarter when things
looked pretty bleak for us, Ellee was flying around on defense, on
the boards, and she was trying to make something happen. Her free
throws were extremely clutch. I expect this type of play from Ellee
because she is a senior that has been through many tough experiences
with this program. I am really proud of her!", says Coach Kristin
Caldwell. Rollins’ 12
points paced the Lady Bucs’ attack in a very close and competitive
Diamond State Classic Delaware Cup Championship Game against Padua
Academy. (Game played December 29, 2009.) Her calmness under
pressure came in most handy as she nailed crucial free-throws in the
final minutes of the contest to close out the 40 - 37 win. Although
the results of her efforts led to a huge win for her team, an MVP
trophy for her, and a News Journal interview, Rollins brought
perspective to the evening when she told DGB.com, “I want to give
glory to God for blessing me with the ability and opportunity to
play basketball.” In a moment when many players would be forgiven
for basking in the “glory” of the game result and of their hand in
it, Ellee Rollins would rather that credit be directed elsewhere.
Well, we still hope she excuses DGB.com for wanting to give her
just a tiny bit of attention with our humble, little iPOW Award.
December 14, 2009
Impact Player of the Week - Week Ending December 19, 2009
Erin Dodds -
St. Ann's CYM

Height:
5' 6"
Current Class: 8th Grade
Years Varsity: 2
Positions
Played: Point Guard
Other
Interests: Soccer, Volleyball, Swimming & Singing
Biggest
Basketball Influence: Her Dad
Probable
High School: Uncommitted
How'd she iPOW? How's this for a day's
work? A legitimate half-court shot just beating the buzzer
to end the first quarter, two other 3-pointers; 16 total points
in all (accounting for 80% of her team's total of 20).
Most important to Erin, St. Ann's beat St. Matthew's, 20 - 15.
This is a pressure performer who wants the ball and knows what
to do with it once she has it. Oh yeah. Almost
forgot. She plays defense too. Excellent on the
full-court fast break pursuit. Knows how to defend a
two-on-one break to the basket. Earlier in the season, had
a 28-point game (that's no misprint!). Erin is a can't
miss talent who belongs in any discussion of the 4 or 5 best
grade school players in the state.

Winning Criteria
1. Only players that appear
in games covered by DelawareGirlsBasketball.com are eligible.
This will average about one game per week (in-season), though some
weeks will feature 2 (or more) and other weeks none. DGB.com
will make every effort to cover a variety of schools and conferences
so that iPOW winners will come from all over. DGB.com is not
associated with any particular school or group of schools.
DGB.com is not a recruiting service, nor does it engage in
recruiting activity.
2. While primarily a high
school award, if DGB.com is covering a non-high school girls game
(such as CYM, public junior high, AAU, etc.), those players are all
eligible for the award.
3. DGB.com reserves the
right to withhold an iPOW Award after games where it is determined
that no one earned it.
4. DGB.com reserves the
right to award multiple iPOW awards for a single game.
(...Meaning 2 or more girls can win from one game, although this
would be very rare.)
5. iPOW winners do not
necessarily have to be on the winning team.
6. iPOW winners are not
asked to or required to do any service for DGB.com in return.
7. No other "prize",
material or monetary gain is extended from DGB.com to the iPOW
winners.
8. Any player offered the
award who requests not to be mentioned on the DGB.com website will
have the award revoked. (In other words, if you don't want
your name associated with the award, then you don't want the award
very much.)
9. DGB.com reserves any and
all other rights not specifically detailed on this page in
connection with this award.
NB: On May 7, 2008, in phone
conversation with Marie Dillon at NCAA Headquarters, it was verbally
agreed that the iPOW award is "NCAA-legal" (my quotes, not hers).
The gist of the NCAA's concerns being that the award does not
consist of any money changing hands and that the website has no ties
to any particular school's booster club or athletic department.
The NCAA also requires that DGB.com not be a recruiting service.
(We are not a recruiting service.)
Other than those ground rules,
which DGB.com has been in FULL COMPLIANCE WITH, our iPOW Award is
acceptable to the NCAA, according to Ms. Dillon, and will not
jeopardize any recipient with possible/potential NCAA sanctions.
The following is taken verbatim
from an email dated May 14, 2008 from Marie Dillon of the NCAA:
Dear Mr. Charles,
This
email is to follow-up from the conversation we had last week
regarding your website. Per our conversation, your
questions were regarding providing prospective student
athletes (PSA) with a t-shirt and picture on a website with
the PSA’s qualifications and achievements. Per our
legislation, providing the PSA’s with a t-shirt, a picture
and information on your website would be permitted provided
several criteria is met. The award would need to be
uniform for all athletes, the criteria for winning the
award would need to be the same for all athletes, the award
does not include cash, it is not being provided by a
booster of an institution, and no recruiting is involved.
Sincerely,
Marie Dillon
