Who We Are

 

Jim Charles

  • Coached basketball, all ages & skill levels for players aged 8 to 18.

  • Won two league championships as head coach:  CYM 7th/8th grade - '95/'96 season; Stormin' Norman's High School Girls - 2000.

  • Assistant Coach, Delaware PAL Wildcats AAU, 2001 through 2004.

  • Founder and First President of Wilmington Tigers Basketball Club of Delaware, Inc., an AAU club, 2005 to 2007.

  • Founder of this website.

 

 

Tom Dunn

  • Coached CYM basketball for three seasons.

  • Avid follower of basketball (and all sports) and a true student of the game.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Michelle Whalen

Michelle joins the DGB.com writing staff in the Spring of 2008.  She brings to our website a wealth of experience as a former scholastic athlete at both the high school and scholastic level.  Michelle’s desire is to periodically contribute advice/human interest columns to DGB.com.  As one who “walked the walk”, her perspective can be of real assistance to current players in the State, while other visitors to the site will find her contributions interesting and thought-provoking.

 

William Penn High School

    • Basketball – Started as freshman, team finished as state runner-up

    • Basketball – Honorable mention all-state, team won state championship
    • Soccer – Starting goalkeeper
  • 1998-1999
    • Volleyball – Honorable mention all-state
    • Basketball – Third team all-state, captain
    • Softball – Starting center fielder
  • 1999-2000
    • Volleyball – Team advanced to state semi-finals and placed third overall, captain
    • Basketball – First team all-state, team captain finished with 1,450+ points
    • Softball – Second-team all-state, team finished as state runner-up

 

University of Delaware (undergraduate studies)

  • Graduated with 3.95 overall GPA (top 1% of graduating class) as double-major, Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society
    • Michelle considers this a greater accomplishment than any athletic achievement
  • 2000-2001
    • Rowing (Div. I) – Novice 8 boat, boat received several 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals, team placed first overall at Philadelphia’s Dad Vail Regatta
    • Club Women’s Basketball
  • 2001-2002
    • Rowing (Div. I) – Varsity 8 boat, boat received several 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals
    • Club Women’s Basketball
  • 2003
    • Basketball – Participated as starter for Universidad de Costa Rica Women’s Basketball Team, team advanced to national championship series but lost best-of-three series in three games
  • 2003-2004
    • Concentrated on studies

 

Wilmington University (graduate studies)

  • 2004-2005
    • Basketball (Div. II) – Starter, team advanced to CACC tournament, team captain, MVP, all-CACC honors

 

Villanova University School of Law

  • Focusing on academic activities (i.e. Moot Court) and participating in intramural athletics
  • Has interned with Delaware Supreme Court, Delaware Attorney General’s Office, and Richards Layton & Finger, PA (where she will return as a full-time associate upon graduation)
  • Will graduate in May of 2008
